Daniel is currently a final-year undergraduate who runs the @foodchiak Instagram and website - www.foodchiak.com. Being an undergrad, Daniel has learnt how to manage his finances well in order to feed his passion. However, Daniel is right to advise that 'good food does not necessarily have to be expensive.'
His passion for savouring delicious cuisines and the penchant for travel developed when he was only 15 years old. He grew up with an appreciation of quality cuisine that drove Daniel to embark on a constant search for the best food out there. Daniel attributes his appreciation and love for good food to his family and especially his father. He remembers how his family would travel from one end of Singapore to the other just to get the perfect dish that hits the spot. This familial habit was imbued into Daniel and shaped him into the foodie he has become.
Daniel emphasises how he 'always has this strong craving for all the unlimited amount of great food available' and how he is always 'constantly seeking the best of the best to savour in.' This keeps him motivated to share his finds with his followers. Daniel's respect for good cuisine goes so far as to view eating as an art and not a simple, mundane task of fulfilling one's stomach. In his opinion, every bite must be worth the calories!
When you started, did you create an elaborate plan or was it very casual?
Yes indeed, I have created an elaborate plan and working on it for about 4 months before it was officially launched.

If there were a dish that was your nemesis on this food journey, what would it be?
Steamed Chicken Rice! I have had countless disappointments trying different plates of chicken rice whereby some look pretty legit but it has some aspects that were rather compromised.
What advice do you have for those who might want to start food blogging or Instagramming?
Focus on a niche, with one that you have deep passion for it, preferably working on something that has vast amount of possibilities to keep your passion burning for long, like really long!
Next, it is really about consistency in delivering contents for your targeted audience, ensuring that they are "well-fed" as they are the ones who will constantly support your work!
It's never too late to start out on something that you are deeply passionate & love about! It's about thinking through thoroughly and committing to it on a consistent basis, without succumbing yourself to failures & giving up easily! If you give it your best, you might just be surprised to find exciting opportunities knocking at your door, when you least expected it to be!
